The world has spiraled, seemingly, out of control in the last few weeks. Though I’ve been absent again (life, I tell ya), I felt that this was the best time to post something for you as this has been an undoubtedly stressful time.
Last week my husband and I were enjoying a fun Spring Break get-away in Dallas, Texas. We were reading the updates on the news, and everyday something escalated or more guidelines were put into place. By the time we got back, we found there are many empty shelves in our local Walmart and the SDSU campus has closed until further notice.
Now we’re down to one income and no church or social gatherings of any kind will be attended or even organized.
And how do we not cave into the public hysteria? To be honest, I have for a bit here and there. As I wash dishes or wash my hair in the shower, I’ve created “disaster game plans.” What would I do if neither of us had any work? What would I cook if food was scarce? How many weapons must I forge to defend our dwelling in case we’re attacked by savage Karens? (LOL I have too much time on my hands now, can you tell?)
This is the kind of thinking that causes hundreds of people to lose their minds and run to Walmart and buy out all the toilet paper! LOL
But how do I release this fear and come back to reality?
First, I take a few deep breaths to clear my mind.
Second, I pray, even if it’s only for a few seconds, for God to calm my heart and help me believe the truth that He has it all in His control and it’ll all be for His glory – one way or another.
Last, I carry on with my tasks and enjoy the time I’ve been blessed with staying home.
Dear friend, I encourage you, not only to journal or use other means to mentally escape this mass hysteria, but praise God. Praise Him for being sovereign and in total control. Thank Him that you’re in good health and for the health and safety of your loved ones. Ask Him to comfort and protect those that are suffering, ill, or in fear of this virus.
Allowing ourselves to live in fear of something so minuscule as an illness instead of glorifying and worshipping the magnificent Creator of the universe . . . there should be no comparison.
Trust Him and have faith that all will be done for your good and His glory.
In Christ’s love,
Myja
